Purpose:
To bring together those people interested in the history of the Town of Halfmoon. The Society’s major function is to discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the area. It will collect printed material, pictures, portraits, or other memorabilia. The Society will provide for the preservation of old as well as new records.

Meetings:
Held at Halfmoon Historical Building at 7 p.m. the last Tuesday of every month.

Accomplishments:
• Instrumental in having 2 signs erected at the entrances to Halfmoon.
     - South Crescent Bridge North on Route 9
     - West Exit 8 Crescent/Vischers Ferry
• Sold Historical Calendars for years 2006-2010. These calendars had the following themes: transportation, houses, barns, former businesses and schools that formed Shenendehowa Central School. Pictures from these calendars can be found in the gallery.
• Instrumental in having cemetery signs erected at some Halfmoon cemeteries
• Interviewed some town residents
• Categorized memorabilia donated to the Historical Society
• Categorized digital pictures of Historical Halfmoon

Activities:

• Registering Halfmoon homes older than 1906
• Looking for artifacts, town memorabilia, pictures (originals or digital copies) for our new building
• Securing historical signs for cemeteries
• Continuing to interview town residents
• Looking to add more historical programs to our meetings
• Working with town officials to keep history alive in Halfmoon
• Always looking for new members who are interested in history

Membership:
Open to anyone interested in Town of Halfmoon or United States history. Membership dues are $8 per family
