The following has
been designed to help acquaint you with some of the activities offered at the
Center. The Center is open from 9:00am to 4:00pm, every Monday thru Friday.
Membership is renewed on a yearly basis from the date of joining. Should you
have any questions, please contact the Center.

General Business
Meeting
The General Business Meeting is held on the first Wednesday of every month at
1:00pm. This is the time when all members come together to discuss the business
of the Center, plan programs, activities and events. Refreshments and fellowship
follow every meeting.
The Library
Our library offers a large variety of books, magazines and puzzles. Hardcover
books are signed out with no due date. All materials are donated and in good
condition. Friends of the Library have provided a list of audio taped books for
the visually impaired. The library is open during Center hours for your reading
pleasure, to sit and relax in, or to visit with a friend.
Line Dancing
Line Dancing class is held every Monday from 9:45-11:00am. This class is for
everyone who likes to dance and have fun all at one time. This class is geared
for the senior dancer. No experience needed. All levels welcome.
Woodcarving
Bill McCormack, Master Woodcarver for over 30 years, is the instructor for this
group who meets every Tuesday from 9:00-11:00am to share conversation and have a
good time carving large or small pieces of wood into whatever the carver would
like. Bill provides the wood, ideas and tips. No experience necessary. Everyone
has a great time and sometimes amazed at how creative they are.
Trips
The Center sponsors numerous trips throughout the year, including day trips and
over-night trips. Members and non-members are welcome.
Ceramics
Ceramics classes are held on Thursdays from 1:00-3:00pm. Classes run in 8-week
sessions. Cost is $8.00 per session plus cost of materials. No tools or bottles
of paint to buy. Everyone is invited, as no prior experience is required. This
is a good way to spend time with friends and explore your creativity.
Recreation Room
The Center has a Recreation Room for members to use at their leisure. Available
during Center hours, the recreation room offers a Pool table, Poker/game table,
Puzzle table, Dartboard and Shuffleboard. Bring a friend or join a friend and
let the games begin.
Pinochle,
Dominoes, Rummikub, Mah Jongg, and Poker
The Center offers a variety of card games throughout the week. Poker is played
on Monday at 11:30am. Pinochle is played on Tuesday at 12:30am. Rummikub is
played on Wednesday at 9:30am. Mah Jongg and Dominoes are played on Friday at
12:30pm.
Crafts
Our Craft group meets every Thursday from 9:00am-12:00pm to participate in a
variety of crafty projects. Ideas are shared, specialties are made, and fun is
had by all. No prior experience is needed. Supplies and reference materials are
provided. The group is open to ideas and always looking for new projects. Craft
items made are sold at the Centers various fundraisers to help support Center
activities.
Bingo
Bingo is held the second and third Wednesday of every month at 1:00pm. A special
Bingo is held when there is a fifth Wednesday in a month. Cards are $1.00 each
with one free card for the first card purchased. Get your good-luck charm out
and join the fun.
Osteoporosis
Class
Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to lose their strength and to
break easily. The Osteoporosis class offered at the Center provides low impact
exercises that focus on prevention and slowing the effects of the condition.
Classes meet every Monday and Wednesday from 9:45-11:15am. Weights are provided
and exercises are tailored to each individual’s ability. Nutritional information
is also discussed. Dr. approval for this class is needed.
Light Aerobics
Class
Every Tuesday from 9:15-10:15am the Center offers a Light Aerobics Class. This
class offers not only light aerobics but strength building as well. This class
is geared for the mature body and is tailored for the individual.
PACE Class
PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise). This class focuses on the individual
and is tailored to each participant’s level of ability. Whether you suffer from
arthritis or just need a slower paced exercise program, this class is beneficial
to all. Classes meet every Thursday from 10:00-11:00am.
Fitness Center
The Center offers a Fitness Room that includes a state-of-the-art treadmill,
several exercise bikes, exercise videos, weights, and toning equipment. In
addition to our regular Library, the fitness center offers a small library of
health and fitness related books and materials.
Congregate Meal
Program
The Center is a Congregate Meal Site for the Saratoga County Office for the
Aging Home Delivered Meal Program. Members gather daily at 12:00pm for great
tasting, nutritious meals, prepared especially by Prestige Food Service.
Participants need to make a reservation for lunch by signing up at the Center no
later than noon of the day before the meal they wish to attend.
Halfmoon Senior
Express
The Halfmoon Senior Express serves Halfmoon residents (age 55 & up), with
no-cost transportation to medical appointments and local shopping, by calling
664-2186.
